The decision to prepare a comprehensive riverfront development plan for Ghaggar river has been taken after the directions from Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to study, identify and integrate catchments of river Ghaggar in Panchkula to suggest flood mitigation and environment protection. Ghaggar originates from Dagshai village in Himachals Solan district and flows through Haryana, Punjab, and then ends in Rajasthan. The river and its tributaries Markanda and Tangri pass from Kalka, Panchkula, Ambala, among other places in Haryana.

The river swells every year during monsoon and many drowning mishaps have been reported over the past years in the State.

Under the commercial development component, the government is keen to explore feasibility of navigation or boating within the river to encourage tourism, development of urban forest, nature park, landscaping along the banks of river and development of gardens, ponds, etc. for recreation purposes.

For flood mitigation measures for river Ghaggar, collection of various hydraulic parameters like rainfall, runoff, discharge, and preparation and study of hydrological model is proposed.

Apart from this, options like increasing holding capacity and carrying capacity of river by further deepening of riverbed, creation or development of cascades or holding ponds within Ghaggar river, identification of suitable location and construction methodology for surface or underground holding ponds in the vicinity of river, identification of suitable location and construction methodology for weir or barrages with gates will also be explored.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) authorized a number of measures to help cotton, sugar cane, and jute growers.

Highlights:

The CCEA raised the price of ethanol made from sugar cane juice in order to blend it with gasoline.

Blending of ethanol with gasoline is predicted to reach 10% by 2022 and 20% by 2025.

The rate of ethanol produced from C-heavy molasses has also risen thanks to CCEA.

OnNovember 10, 2021,India hosted a regional security summit. Eight countries, including Iran and Russia, attended the summit.

Starlink, an Internet Service initiative, has launched a dish that interested customers can purchase to learn more about SpaceX’s developing low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation.

Highlights:

According to The Verge, the dish is a slimmer and lighter-weight choice than the circular dish that Starlink beta testers will be testing in 2020.

SpaceX’s satellite internet project is called Starlink.

It was launched with the goal of deploying 12,000 satellites into low Earth orbit to offer people on the ground broadband internet access.

It will deliver services in regions where traditional internet infrastructure is lacking, such as isolated and rural areas.

In order to use the system, users must install a dish near their home, such as on their roof.

At all times, the dish should be positioned so that users have an unobstructed view of the sky (free of trees or other obstructions).
