Prime MinisterNarendra Modiofficially opened the newParliament building.He arrived at Gate No. 1, wearing traditional attire, and was greeted by Lok Sabha SpeakerOm Birla.Accompanied by priests from Karnatakas Shringeri Math, the Prime Minister participated in a ceremonial Ganapati Homam to seek divine blessings for the inauguration of the new Parliament building. Vedic chants added a spiritual atmosphere to the occasion.

Modi led a procession carrying theSengolwhile traditional nadaswaram tunes played and Vedic mantras were chanted. The procession made its way to the new Parliament building, where Modi placed the Sengol in a dedicated enclosure on the right side of the Speakers chair in the Lok Sabha chamber. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister also honored select workers who had made significant contributions to the construction of the new Parliament building.

Made of silver and gold, the five-feet long sceptre was handed over by Lord Mountbatten to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on August 14, 1947, as a symbol of the transfer of power, according to the government. The Sengol, a symbol of governance in Tamil kingdoms of yore, was then kept for display in The Allahabad Museum.

The Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar campaign was launched by the Union Minister, Shri Hardeep S. Puri, in May 2023. The campaign is led by theMinistry of Housing and Urban Affairs, in collaboration with local authorities, NGOs, and citizens across the country.

The primary objective of the campaign is to promote the adoption of the 3R mantra (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in urban India. By setting up RRR Centres, the campaign aims to create a convenient and accessible avenue for citizens to deposit their old and unused items, which can then be repurposed or recycled. Additionally, the campaign seeks to raise awareness about sustainable practices, encourage responsible consumption, and reduce the burden on landfills.

First nuclear plant of North India to be built in Haryana

The first nuclear power plant in North India would be built in Gorakhpur, Haryana, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh. He claimed that one of the major accomplishments under Prime Minister Narendra Modis leadership would be the installation of nuclear and atomic energy plants across the nation, which had previously been largely restricted to states in the south like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well as western Maharashtra.

The Department of Atomic Energy is also allowed to join forces with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to get funding for the opening of nuclear power plants.

Haryanas Gorakhpur In the Fatehabad area of Haryana, the Anu Vidyut Pariyojanas (GHAVP) Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) with two units, each with a capacity of 700 MWe, is currently being built.

Chinas first domestically-built plane debuts

Chinas first indigenously built passenger aircraft C919 on Sunday successfully completed its first commercial flight, marking its official entry into the civil aviation market as part of the countrys bid to compete with Western rivals like Boeing and Airbus.

The first commercial flight of C919 from the eastern metropolis of Shanghai to Beijing was operated by the state-run China Eastern Airlines.

The plane carried 128 passengers on board. The flight time between Shanghai and Beijing was about two hours and twenty-five minutes, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The C919 is Chinas first self-developed trunk jetliner in accordance with international airworthiness standards and owns independent intellectual property rights.
