Free schooling and jobs: Haryana rolls out scheme for orphans

From childcare to government jobs, the has decided to roll out its dedicated scheme, HARIHAR, for the children who have been abandoned or renderedorphans.
In its recentcircular, the government has notified to implement the policy meant for the welfare and care ofabandoned children. In a letter to administrative secretaries of all the departments, it noted that under the policy the state will providefree schooling, higher and technical Education and EMPLOYMENT in Groups C and D of government jobs to all those kids who were abandoned or surrendered below the age of five.

In April, the cabinet had approved the states HARIHAR policy under which it aims at providing free child care, providing jobs on compassionate grounds, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) status.

Under the scheme, the government will give jobs to orphaned youths only once. After an appointment to any post, the person concerned will not be able to apply for a change of post or department. However, if the beneficiaries clear the competitive examination, then they could opt for going to another department.
