Haryana CM inaugurates GIS Labs established by HARSAC in 11 districts

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that Geographic Information System Laboratories (GIS Labs) are being established in all districts of the state, so that data related to various departments can be collected through satellite.

The monitoring of the projects run by various departments can be done through satellite and the data related to all the departments will be available in these labs, the Chief Minister said after inaugurating the GIS Lab set up by Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC) in 11 districts of the state through a virtual meeting.

The Chief Minister also interacted with the Cabinet Ministers, public representatives and officials of the state present in these 11 districts.

He said that data would be collected and preserved using satellite images in these labs which are being built by HARSAC. After this, complete details of the data received such as name of the property owner, contact number, area of the property, status of the property related to residential or commercial area will be recorded. Also, the location of the property and the public facilities available in the area will also be easily accessible, he said.

Not only this, authorized and unauthorized colonies can be easily identified through satellite as well. Even while buying a property, people will know whether that property is in the authorized area or not, the Chief Minister said.

He also said that data related to all departments including Revenue, Irrigation, Urban Local Bodies, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Development and Panchayat, Police and Education Department will be collected in the lab.

The data of all the departments will be available online in the GIS Lab and the common man will be able to access the information easily, he added.

 

INTERNATIONAL

 

NASA’s Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD)

 

ASA is set to test a “Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) technology” in space, with the aim of speeding up space communications.

 

The LCRD will be launched on December 4, following a two-year delay.

 

It will be launched into space by Department of Defence, onboard United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket during Space Test Program Satellite-6 (STPSat-6) mission.

 

Mission will be launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

 

It will benefit “Artemis manned Moon-landing mission”, which is scheduled to be executed in 2025.

 

The laser technology mission will travel to the geosynchronous orbit at 22,236 miles, but won’t reach the moon. The test will be conducted for a period of at least two years.

UK to host G7 foreign, development ministers’ summit

 

The United Kingdom (UK) is going to host a summit of Foreign and Development Ministers from G7 in December 2021, in the city of Liverpool.

 

Foreign Secretary of UK, Liz Truss will welcome counterparts from leading economies like US, Germany, France, Canada, Italy, EU and Japan.

 

The summit will be held from December 10 to 12, 2021.

 

It will be second in-person gathering of G7 Foreign Ministers in 2021.

 

South-East Asian countries will also attend upcoming G7 Foreign Ministers’ meetings for the first time.

 

These meetings highlight the growing Indo-Pacific tilt of UK.

ASEAN Foreign Ministers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand will be attending the G7 Summit.

 

World Children’s Day Is Celebrated On 20 November

The UN General Assembly enacted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1959, which is a significant occasion.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child will celebrate its 32nd anniversary in 2021.

World Children’s Day, also known as Universal Children’s Day, was first observed on November 20th, 1954.

Virtual Science Lab launched under CSIR Jigyasa Programme

 

Virtual Science Lab was launched under CSIR Jigyasa Programme.

 

This programme will connect students with scientists across India.

 

This Lab will provide a virtual tour of CSIR laboratories as well as expose students to research infrastructure.

Aim of the lab

 

Virtual Science Lab was inaugurated with the aim of providing quality research exposure and innovative pedagogy to the school students on the basis of an online interactive medium. It will immensely benefit students from government schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

 

JIGYASA is a major national level initiative of CSIR, launched to widen and deepen its Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR). Programme also explain the culture of curiousness and scientific nature on other.  This is a student-scientist connect programme, launched in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathans (KVS). Its primary objective is to extend classroom learning and focus on well-planned research laboratory-based learning.

Indian Navy commissioned INS Visakhapatnam

 

Indian Navy formally commissioned INS Visakhapatnam at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

 

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that India’s efforts towards defence modernisation is on full swing and it is a proud day to become Atma Nirbhar in defence sector.

About INS Visakhapatnam

 

According to Defence Ministry, INS Visakhapatnam is 163m in length and 17m in breadth. It has a displacement of 7,400 tonnes. The ship can be regarded as one of the significant potent warships to have been constructed in India. It is propelled by four powerful Gas Turbines, in a Combined Gas and Gas (COGAG) configuration. The warship is capable of achieving speeds of 30 knots. It has been named after the historic coast called Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh.

 

Enhanced Stealth Features

 

INS Visakhapatnam has enhanced stealth features which results into a reduced Radar Cross Section (RCS). It is achieved through efficient shaping of hull, plated masts, use of radar transparent materials on exposed decks and full beam superstructure design.
