Haryana set to allow online filing of RTI applications

Soon filling of online RTI applications in Haryana would be a reality. The Haryana state information commission (SIC) has confirmed that the process of beginning online filing of RTI applications in different government departments is near completion.

Once implemented, the online filing of RTI would provide a major respite for information seekers as the present system is extremely cumbersome and causes huge delays. The pandemic period had further aggravated the problem for information seekers because of suspension of postal services for some period.

Earlier in August, the state information commission had ordered the Haryana government to evolve a mechanism through which the applications under the RTI Act could be received online.
